On Track Update: January 18, 2021

Get ready for a big traffic change on State Road 37 north of Martinsville as soon as this Saturday, Jan. 23. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction and shift to the northbound side of the highway from Morgan Street to S.R. 144. The S.R. 37 restrictions will be in place for most of this year.

On Track Update: December 21, 2020

It’s been a year of major progress on I-69 Finish Line in Martinsville and Morgan County. The latest milestone came late last week when the new overpass connecting Egbert Road with Old State Road 37 opened to traffic. It’s the fourth new overpass completed and opened to traffic this year. The Grand Valley Boulevard overpass opened this summer and the Waverly and Perry road overpasses followed this fall.

The fire station at the corner of State Road 37 and Smith Valley Road was part of the land needed to build a future I-69 interchange at this location. The White River Township Fire Department saw it as an opportunity to respond to the community’s growth and to plan for the future.

Motorists need to stay alert and watch for changing traffic patterns in downtown Martinsville. To stay ahead of today’s rain and snow in the forecast, I-69 Finish Line crews worked over the weekend to complete their restriping of Morgan and Jefferson streets. The restriping means a literal change in direction for drivers using Jefferson Street and the reconfiguration of some downtown parking spaces.

A new bridge highlights the most recent progress on I-69 Finish Line. The new bridge over S.R. 37 connecting Perry Road with Old S.R. 37 opened to traffic over the weekend. Motorists will notice more progress and should prepare for additional traffic changes as crews continue to complete several of the key 2020 improvements over the coming weeks.
